Danish Coffee Cake

Danish Coffee Cake

Put in large mixing bowl :
1/2 cup warm milk
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar1
/2 tsp salt

In a small cup
:1/2 cup warm water
1 Tbs active yeast
1 Tbs sugar
Let it sit about 10 minutes

Add to the warm milk mixture, and add:
2 eggs, slightly beaten with fork
3-4 cups flour, mixing after each cup of flour

It should form a nice, but still slightly sticky dough. Let it rise, until double in size.

Flatten on a cookie sheet. Spread butter (or margerine) over dough
Add sliced apples (about 4 - 5) down the middle
1/4 cup of brown sugar (or more if sour apples)
Sprinkle with cinnamon

Fold over sides, turn it over, make 3 diagonal slices / / / and bake at 350 degrees until nicely golden brown
Mix icing sugar with hot water until it is slightly runny and drizzle over cake when it is cold.
