Our little friend showed up this summer! It has been about 2 years since I saw him last, and I was very pleased to see him visiting my tall phlox the other night.
This little moth looks so much like a little hummingbird! His wings flap so fast just like a hummingbird that he is able to hover. He has a striped body, and the rudder-shaped rear allows for very quick maneuvering. He also has a long tongue that helps him drink from deep flowers such as glads, and phlox.
Isn't he adorable?
