Such a lovely fruit, so golden, sweet and juicy! I buy my peaches from The Red Barn in Arkona, Ontario and every year I buy enough that I can make jam and have about 20 one litre jars of them for winter. Nothing better in the middle of a cold and dreary winter than peaches that you preserved yourself!
Yesterday, I made jam out of 1/3 of a bushel of peaches. This made 41 8oz jars of jam. I still have 2/3 of a bushel left, and I have 2 bushels of freestone peaches for the canned peaches. I had to run to the store to buy more jars, and more screw rings.
